Things to Remember - The three basics that we are always promoting
2 Hands – how do we hold the ball?
The bread basket – how do we catch?
Score a try – how do we score a try?
Keep coming back to this throughout the session. You must be: Enthusiastic, Energetic and Enjoy It!!
Timing
- Each session should be exactly 60 minutes.
- Include a quick 2 minute snack break (maybe an additional water break in the summer)
Starting a Session
Always start with a fun warm up. Include stretching, jumping, making funny noises. Make the kids laugh. This is important for a number of reasons:
It gives the coaches a chance to see all the kids attending
It allows for late comers to get ready and join in
It brings everyone together, which then makes it easy to split them into their groups
